How do I remove Fan Appz?

From Your Personal Account
To remove the Fan Appz Bookmark from the left navigation of your personal Facebook profile:

  1. Hover over the Fan Appz Bookmark until you see the "x" on the left
  2. Click the "x"
  3. The bookmark should now disappear

To remove the Fan Appz application from your personal Facebook profile:

  1. In the upper-right corner of Facebook, click the downward arrow and then "Account Settings"
  2. Click the "Apps" link on the left menu
  3. Locate Fan Appz in your application list
  4. Click the small 'x' in the far right column
  5. Please be kind in your review of Fan Appz

From Your Fan Page
To remove the Fan Appz tab from your Fan Page:

  1. Locate the list of tabs under your profile picture on your fan page
  2. Click the "more" link under the list of tabs to expand the selection
  3. Click the "edit" link
  4. Click the small 'x' next to the tab(s) you want to remove

To remove the Fan Appz application from your Fan Page:

  1. Click 'Edit Page' button on the upper-right side of the Page
  2. Click "Apps" from the left navigation
  3. Find the Fan Appz application from the list of apps and click the small 'x' to the far right of the row

How do I create a Top5?

The Top5 application allows users to pick 5 items from a larger category list and post the results on their profile page.

Once you have navigated to the Fan Appz Page Admin menu, click either the “Create a Top5 with custom content” or “Create a Top5 with Fan Appz content” links and follow the simple instructions on the next page.

When creating a Top5 using your own content, you must first create what’s called a “Content Category”. This is the collection of images & names that your fans will search through to pick the 5 they want to display. Content categories should have at least 10-15 items to provide for a good user experience.

How do I create a Poll?

Once you have navigated to the Fan Appz Page Admin menu, click the “Create a Poll” link and follow the simple instructions on the next pages.

Polls can contain text, images, video or a combination of all of these. Each poll can have up to 20 poll choices, however, the newsfeed will currently only display the first five choices as images, text or a combination of the two.

When posting a poll to the newsfeed to either promote it to your fans or for your fans to post on their wall, Fan Appz will look to see if images were included. If images were added to the poll choices, the first five images will be displayed in the newsfeed. Facebook will only show the first one by default and when users click a “See More” link they will see up to five. When loading images for a poll, we recommend using the most engaging image as your first poll choice image because this image will be seen most frequently in the stream. If there are no images in the choices, Fan Appz will look to see if there is an image for the poll question and will display that image in the newsfeed.

Preferred image formats are either jpg or gif.

It is recommended to always include images either in the choices OR in the poll question because it will make for a much more engaging newsfeed story that will likely getting a higher click through rate than a story that only has text.

How do I create a Quiz?

Once you have navigated to the Fan Appz Page Admin menu, click the “Create a Quiz” link. Then choose which type of quiz you want to create: a test of knowledge (How Well Do You Know?) or an outcome based format (Which one are you?). Then follow the simple instructions on the next pages.

Quizzes can include a combination of text, images, or video.

Creating a “How Well Do You Know?” Quiz

Each quiz can have between 5-10 questions with each question having between 2-5 choices. When creating each question, you must select which choice is the correct answer.

Creating a “Which Are You?” Quiz

Each quiz can have between 3-20 outcomes. Each outcome must have an outcome photo and outcome text. When creating questions for the quiz, each question must have a unique answer for each outcome.

How do I edit or manage content (Top5s, Polls, Quizzes) that I previously created in Fan Appz?

In order to edit Top5s, Polls, or Quizzes, click on the Manage Fan Appz content link on the Page Admin menu and look for the content you want to edit. Click on the “Edit” link and make your required changes.

The Manage Fan Appz Content area allows the Page Admin to perform the following functions related to Fan Appz Content:

View Statistics - Selecting this button will show the total number of fan engagements that have completed for a particular content item.

Edit - Selecting Edit will allow the Fan Page Admin to correct spelling or image related issues after a Poll or Quiz has been published.

Promote - The Promote button will generate an additional newsfeed story for display to fans on the fan page wall.

Delete - The delete button will permanently remove a Poll or Quiz including all user data related to the quiz. This option should only be selected when editing the quiz is not a viable option.

How do I create an Offer?

The Offers application allows a Page Admin to create a deal, such as a discount, redeemable at either an online or offline location. Once created, Offers will display in one of three different areas: an optionally added Promotions tab, the Promotions Catalog inside Fan Appz, or in the flow of a Top5, Poll, or Quiz.

Once you have navigated to the Fan Appz Page Admin menu, click the “Create Offer” link in the Promotions section (requires Fan Appz Pro or Enterprise), and follow the simple instructions on the next pages. Offers can have a configurable form with required fields that must be completed prior to showing a coupon code to the user. In addition, Offers can also be restricted to fans of a Page, therefore only showing the coupon code to users who have clicked the “like” button on your Page.

To add an Offer to a Top5, Poll, or Quiz, first create a Top5, Poll, or Quiz but do not publish it to your wall. Create the Offer and link it to the created Fan Appz Content in Part 3 of the Create Offer process (Associations). Once you have linked the Offer to the Fan Appz Content, select the Promote button next to the content area (Top5, Poll, or Quiz) in “Manage Fan Appz Content” to promote the combined Offer and Fan Appz Content to fans.

How do I create a Sweepstakes?

The Sweepstakes application allows a Page Admin to create a Sweepstakes that captures personally identifiable information for those who enter. Once created, Sweepstakes will display in one of four different areas: an optionally added Sweepstakes tab, an optionally added Promotions tab, the Promotions Catalog inside Fan Appz, or in the flow of a Top5, Poll, or Quiz.

Once you have navigated to the Fan Appz Page Admin menu, click the “Create Sweepstakes” link in the Promotions section (requires Fan Appz Enterprise), and follow the simple instructions on the next pages. Sweepstakes can have a configurable form with required fields that must be completed prior to allowing the user submit the form. In addition, Sweepstakes can also be restricted to fans of a Page, therefore only allowing entry to users who have clicked the “like” button on your Page.

How do I create a Challenge?

Once you have navigated to the Fan Appz Page Admin menu, click the “Create Challenge” link in the Promotions section (requires Fan Appz Enterprise), and follow the simple instructions on the next pages.

How do I edit or manage Promotions that I previously created in Fan Appz?

In order to edit a Promotion, click on the Manage Promotions link and locate the Promotion you want to edit. Click on the “Edit” link and make your required changes.

The Manage Promotions area allows the Page Admin to perform the following functions related to Fan Appz Promotions:

Edit - Selecting Edit will allow the Fan Page Admin to correct spelling or image related issues after a Promotion has been published.

Promote - The Promote button will generate an additional newsfeed story for display to fans on the fan page wall.

View Photo – Allows the Page Admin to view the photos that have been uploaded by users participating in a Challenge.

Delete - The delete button will permanently remove a Promotion including all user data related to the Promotion. This option should only be selected when editing the Promotion is not a viable option.

Export Lead Data to CSV – Exports all user data that has been collected in an Offer, Sweepstakes or Challenge to a Microsoft Excel compatible CSV file.

How do I end a Top5, Poll or Quiz on a certain day/time?

If you know ahead of time when you would like a Poll to end, you can set an end date/time during the creation of a poll. Quizzes and Top5s do not have end date options.

The only way to end a Top5 or Quiz, or a Poll after it has been published, is to delete it from the Manage Fan Appz Content area. The delete button will permanently remove the content, including all user data related to it. This option should only be selected when editing is not a viable option. We recommend NOT deleting prior content if possible.
