How do I create a post on the Publisher?

You must first choose a fan page to work on by selecting from the page navigation on the left side.  Then click on Publisher > Create Post from the application navigation.  Select which type of post you want to create (text, photo, etc.), populate the form fields and click “Publish”.

How do I upload photos to Facebook?

On the Create Post page of the Publisher, choose ‘Photo’ for the type of post and then select the photo you want to upload.  You can optionally enter a caption for the photo.  Then choose the album you wish to upload the photo into, and click ‘Publish’.

How do I post a link?

On the Create Post page of the Publisher, choose ‘Link’ for the type of post.  Enter the link URL in the field provided and click ‘Attach’.  Elements from the page you linked will automatically be pulled into the post.  You may choose the picture to use and modify the title and description, then click ‘Publish’.

How do I post a video?

On the Create Post page of the Publisher, choose ‘Video/Audio’ for the type of post.  There are two ways to post a video.  If the video is embedded in a webpage with Open Graph tags (such as YouTube), then you can just attach the URL of that website by entering the URL in the ‘Add Video/Audio Clip’ field and clicking ‘Attach’.  If the page does NOT have Open Graph tags (Fan Appz will tell you this if you try to attach a page without the tags), then you can publish the page as a Link instead of a Video.

Alternatively, you can attach the direct URL to the video file by entering the URL in the ‘Direct URL path to Video File’ field and clicking ‘Attach’.  You will then need to upload a thumbnail for the video as well.

How do I publish to Twitter?

To publish to Twitter, you first need to authenticate at least one Twitter account on the My Account page.  Click the link to the My Account page in the upper-right corner of the page and then click the “Sign In with Twitter” button.  Follow the steps to add your Twitter account.  Then, go back to the Publisher and expand the “Twitter” section to choose the Twitter account(s) you wish to publish to and modify the Tweet if desired.  Click the ‘Publish’ button when done.

How do I geo-target my post?

You can target your posts from the Publisher by geography or language by expanding the “Target” section and choosing your options.

How do I post to multiple pages?

You can post to multiple Facebook pages by expanding the “Publish To” section in the Publisher and choosing whichever other pages you wish.  Only pages which are subscribed to Fan Appz will show in the list, and they will be grouped by Page Group.  You can select either the entire Page Group, or expand it to select specific pages within the group.

How do I schedule a post?

You can schedule any post in the Publisher by expanding the “Schedule” section and entering a date and time to publish the post.  When you do so, the “Publish” button will switch to a “Schedule” button.  Click “Schedule” and your post will be displayed on the “View Scheduled” page.

Can I save a post and work on it or publish it later?

Yes.  To save a post that you are working on in the Publisher, simply click the “Save Draft” button and the post will be displayed in the View Drafts page.   You can come back and either Edit or Publish the draft post from here.

Where do I see published, scheduled or saved posts?

Select “View Published”, “View Scheduled” or “View Drafts” from the Publisher menu to see the posts in each section.  Scheduled posts will automatically move to the “View Published” page once they have been published.  Failed posts will be displayed in the “View Drafts” page with an indicator that they failed to publish.

Can I copy a post and publish it on another page?

Go to the “View Published”, “View Scheduled” or “View Drafts” page and click “Copy” under the post you wish to copy.  A new post will be created under the primary page that the original post was created, but then you can choose another page to publish the post to under the “Publish To” section of the post.

You can delete any post by clicking the “Delete” link under the post on the “View Published”, “View Scheduled” or “View Drafts” pages. Deleting a published post will also delete it from your Facebook wall.

How do I edit or delete a post?

You may edit a post that is scheduled or saved as a draft by clicking the “Edit” link under the post on the “View Scheduled” or “View Drafts” pages in the Publisher.

You can delete any post by clicking the “Delete” link under the post on the “View Published”, “View Scheduled” or “View Drafts” pages.  Deleting a published post will also delete it from your Facebook wall.

Why am I seeing reduced impressions when promoting engagement content and promotions on my wall?

If you see reduced impressions when promoting engagement content and promotions on your wall, you may be experiencing a bug that was introduced by Facebook.  You can avoid this issue by following these steps to post your content on your wall manually:

  1. When you create either Engagement Content (polls, quizzes and top5s) or Promotions, the last page of the process is the Promote page.  When you get to this page, copy the URL that is displayed in Step 2.

  2. In a new browser window, browse to Facebook.com and go to your fan page.
  3. Post the URL that you copied as a link on the wall as you normally would using the Share: Link functionality.

If you want to promote content that you have already created, you can get back to the Promote page by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to Engagement Apps > Manage Content (for Polls, Quizzes and Top5s) or Promotions > Manage Promotions (for Sweepstakes, Offers and Challenges).
